Just Roll with it . . .

Think about the phrase: Just roll with it…
Yesterday we saw our youth off on their Mission Trip and a few of us were talking, this phrase came up. We use it in a lot of situations as a metaphorical idea for adapting to a situation, or maybe a song by Easton Corbin.
When I was younger, I would have interpreted this phrase as: “Make it up as you go…”! As I have grown in my faith, I know that in order to handle the situations that seem to interfere with life, we have to be prepared. The Boy Scout motto was “be prepared”, created by Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout movement, in 1907. It was more than just “having the right things at the right time” – it meant being prepared both mentally and physically to handle the unexpected situations that will happen in our lives.
I am reminded of a time years ago on a Mission Trip in South Dakota. It was the hardest, yet most rewarding trip of all. While hitting the hardest day, I opened my Bible to Philippians 4 and read this:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Phil 4: 6,7
It was what I needed to hear in that moment, and I refer back to it often. If I did NOT have a relationship with God, I would not have been “spiritually prepared” to deal with the issues we were facing at that time.
In other words, I could paraphrase it and say, “just roll with it”- knowing that God has my back! If you get worried or concerned – read this in your Bible, Pray and let God’s peace embrace you. As you grow in your faith, you will trust in Him more, and more!
